On Oct. 31, VSFA members and officers attended the Grand Opening and Dedication of the Feed Mill Educational Unit at North Carolina State University.
The Virginia State Feed Association helped to sponsor the feed mill, as did many of its individual members and sponsors. Students can gain firsthand experience as well as knowledge of the latest research related to feed formulation and manufacturing, mill design, operation safety and maintenance and feed quality assurance programs and mill regulatory programs. The facility is part of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences' Lake Wheeler Road Field Laboratory at Raleigh. The field lab includes animal waste processing and aquaculture facilities, plus swine, turkey, chicken and dairy units. It is the focal point in the college's efforts to integrate and strengthen its animal agriculture programs. To learn more about the Feed Mill Educational Unit, click here.
